Axel Dohmann and his family have been visiting Lochend Chalets since 1975 and although during our halceon childhood summer holidays of the 70’s and 80’s, when we made great rafts, ran table tennis tournaments, sailed and danced at many a ceilidh, Axel has been harbouring this romantic image that one day he too would be chief labourer at Lochend. He’d watched our Dad cut the grass, pipe in mouth and foot to the floor for many, many years. Now a very successful businessman when he surprised his mother Rosemary with a birthday trip back to Lochend to revisit their ‘second’ home and my parents, who had become great friends with Rosemary and Didier, he asked my Dad to make his dream come true…pipe and all! As my Dad chucked the pipe at 70 he had to bring his own pipe but tractor and long grass were provided. Here he is. Check the grin!
